Ban Phe pier is the gateway to Koh Samet island, home to some of Thailand's whitest beaches — the easiest way there is your own car, left at a guarded lot by the port while you take the ferry over with just a light bag.

Take Route 36 through Rayong to Ban Phe — the road is fast for almost the entire distance, comfortable for a long open-top drive. Several paid, guarded car parks sit right by the port.
